Dismantling
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. Remove the generator (see subsection 3.3.11), put the generator on a pure desktop. |
|
2. Turn off nuts of a back cover, a generator conclusion nut, remove the insulating plug of a conclusion and a back cover.
|
|
3. Unscrew five screws of fastening of the regulator of tension and the brush holder (are specified by shooters). |
|
4. Remove the regulator of tension and the brush holder from a back flange of the case of the generator. If you are limited only to replacement of the regulator of tension, perform works according to item 8, install the new regulator, collect the generator and establish on the engine. If brushes change, be guided by the following item of the description. |
|
5. Measure length of the acting part of brushes and compare to the limit length specified in the section "Specifications". If length of a brush is less maximum permissible, assembled with brushes replace the brush holder. |
Prevention
On some cars replacement only of brushes by their perepaivaniye is provided.

| 6. Be convinced that brushes freely move in the brush holder. |
|
7. Remove the rectifier (shooters specified screws of fastening of the rectifier). Remove four rubber buffers and a mud-reflector. |
| 8. Put tags of mutual orientation of forward and back covers to facilitate assembly. |
| 9. Turn off a nut of fastening of a pulley on a rotor and remove a pulley. |
|
10. Turn off four nuts of fastening of a forward cover to a back flange, disconnect a back flange of the generator from a cover. |
| 11. Remove a persistent washer and get a rotor from a forward cover. |
|
Check of a condition of details
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
|
1. Check chain resistance between two contact rings. Resistance has to be within 2–4 Ohms. |
|
2. Check a chain between shaft of a rotor and contact rings. The ohmmeter has to show infinite resistance (contact between a rotor and rings should not be). If results of both checks unsatisfactory, or in case of the increased wear of rings a rotor replace. |
|
3. Check resistance between stator winding conclusions. If resistance is great, or the ohmmeter shows break, the stator is subject to replacement. Check short circuit of windings of the stator for the case (core). If between conclusions of the stator and the case the ohmmeter shows final resistance, the stator is faulty. |
|
4. Check diodes positive and branches of the bridge of the rectifier. For what apply the positive probe of an ohmmeter to the output probe (an arrow from above), and the negative probe to any of the diodes specified illustrations to a conclusion (an arrow from below). |
|
5. Then trade probes places and concern the same conclusions. |
| 6. At the first connection the ohmmeter has to show the closed chain, and at other – a rupture of a chain (see rice. Check of diodes of a positive branch of the vypryamitelny bridge).
Similarly check resistance and between other conclusions. If at least one of diodes does not pass tests, the diode branch is considered faulty. |
| 7. Now check diodes of a negative branch of the vypryamitelny bridge for what apply the negative probe of an ohmmeter to a negative conclusion (See rice. Check of diodes of a negative branch of the vypryamitelny bridge), and the positive probe to any of rectifier conclusions. Then trade probes places and concern the same conclusions. At the first connection the ohmmeter has to show a rupture of a chain, and at other – the closed chain. Similarly check resistance between other conclusions. If at least one of diodes does not pass tests, the diode branch is considered faulty. |

Assembly
| PERFORMANCE ORDER |
| 1. Assembly is carried out upside-down, at observance of the following rules. |
|
2. At establishment of the brush holder on a shaft wring out brushes a small screw-driver. |
| 3. Screw screws of fastening of the regulator of tension and the brush holder in a back flange of the generator. |
| 4. Establish a back cover and tighten three nuts. |
| 5. Install the insulating plug of the output probe, tighten a nut.

| 6. Install the generator on the car.
|
