Prevention

Survey and repair of an exhaust system is carried out only after full cooling of details of system.

The exhaust system consists of a final collector, catalytic converter, mufflers (average and terminal), the connecting pipes and details of their suspension bracket (arms, collars, pillows). The exhaust system fastens to a body through arms and rubber pillows. At failure of any of details of system operation of the engine is followed by the increased noise.

For maintenance of an exhaust system in good repair periodically check a condition of details. Check existence of the dispersed seams, traces of a burn-out and decumulation by corrosion, and also other defects which are the reason of hit of exhaust gases in salon. The failed details are not subject to repair, they should be changed.

If details of system do not give in to removal because of a holding strap owing to corrosion, they should be removed sharp. Usually this procedure is carried out in workshops by means of autogenous cutting. However, at desire to save on the cost of these works and in the absence of own gas-welding equipment, the rezka can be executed a hacksaw. In the presence of compressed air the rezka can be executed pneumatic scissors. At work put on glasses for protection of eyes against sawdust and a mitten.

At repair of an exhaust system follow the following rules:

      – remove details of an exhaust system one after another, since terminal section and finishing forward section;
      – to facilitate an otvorachivaniye of nuts and bolts grease them with the getting liquid;
      – when replacing pipes and mufflers surely replace details;
      – at assembly grease all carvings with the fixing structure;
      – between the bottom of a body and exhaust pipes there has to be a gap to prevent an overheat of a floor and destruction of an anticorrosive covering and a rug. Pay special attention at assembly to installation of catalytic converter and a heat-insulating guard.
Prevention

Catalytic converter works at very high temperature, its cooling requires a long time. Before removal of converter wait for its full cooling. Otherwise serious burns are possible.
