12.21. System of the central lock

GENERAL INFORMATION

Arrangement of elements of system of the central lock

1. Block of safety locks of N2 (AM1 Safety lock)
2. Ignition lock
(Switch of an alarm bulb)
3. Control relay of locks of doors
  4. Block of safety locks of N1 (Window regulator safety lock) (Safety lock of an instrument guard)
5. Switch of locks
6. Locks of doors (The lock engine) (The control switch checking closing of the lock)

The system of the central lock puts drives of locks of doors which are located in each of doors in action.

The system consists of switches, drives and connecting wires.

Diagnostics is usually limited to check of connections of wires and drives on existence of small malfunctions which are easy for eliminating.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The system of the central lock uses two-sided solenoids for short circuit and an otmykaniye of locks of doors. Switches of locks have two working conditions: It is closed (Lock) and It is opened (Unlock). These switches put the relay which in turn gives tension on solenoids of locks of doors in action. Depending on what signal is sent to the relay, it changes the polarity, allowing both parts of a chain to have positive or negative tension.
2. Always, first of all, check protection of an electric chain. On some cars automatic switches and safety locks are used together.
3. Switch switches in both provisions (Lock and Unlock) at the switched-off engine. Listen to weak click of the working relay.
4. If you do not hear click, check presence of tension on switches. If tension is present, check wires between the block of safety locks and switches for existence of short circuits or gaps.
5. If tension is present, but click is not audible, check the switch for conductivity of current. Replace the switch if it does not carry out current in one of provisions (see the tab. Table of connection of a tester and conductivity of the main block of switches of system of the central lock).
6. If the switch carries out current, but the relay does not click, check wires between the switch and the relay. Restore connection if in a chain there is a gap.
7. If the relay receives power supply from the switch, but does not send it to solenoids, check reliability of grounding of the case of the relay. If grounding of the case of the relay as it should be, replace the relay.
8. If solenoids of all locks, except one work, remove the finishing panel from that door (see subsection 11.12) and check existence of tension on the solenoid at inclusion / switching off of the switch of the lock. On one of wires there has to be tension when the switch is in situation is closed; the second wire has to be energized when the switch is in situation is unlocked.
9. If on the idle solenoid there is tension, replace it.
10. If on the idle solenoid there is no tension, check a wire between the solenoid and the relay for existence of a gap.
Prevention

Often wires break in that part of a plait of wires which is located between a body and a door (continuous opening and closing of a door leads to accumulation in wires of fatigue and, eventually, to a rupture of wires).
