Check of the fuel pump

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Include ignition (not to start the engine).
2. On all cars released in 1993-1994 and also on cars with the engine 1,3 and 1,6 of the l which are let out since 1995, connect nakorotko conclusions of B+ and FP (shooter) on the diagnostic socket by means of a special crossing point (SST – the special tool according to the catalog).

Prevention

On release cars since 1995 and with the engine of 1,8 l, and also on all cars equipped with onboard system of diagnostics of OBD II, giving of food on the fuel pump via the diagnostic socket is not provided. On these cars for reading of pressure of fuel it is necessary to start the engine.

3. After a peremykaniye of the specified conclusions to the fuel pump tension moves. In a place under a back seat operation of the pump has to be listened, and on a hose from the fuel filter there has to be fuel pressure.
4. Disconnect a crossing point. Establish a cap on the diagnostic socket.
5. Switch off ignition.
6. If the pump does not work, check the following elements of a chain: a safety lock of the main relay of system of injection (EFI relay) calculated on 15 A, a fusible insert of the ignition key on 30 A (AM2 insert, see rice. The scheme of a power-supply circuit of the fuel pump), the main relay of system of injection (EFI relay) and the relay of the fuel pump, the fuel pump, and also conducting and sockets (see a basic electric circuit at the end of the management).

Check of the fuel pump

Performance of the procedure described below requires the manometer for measurement of pressure of fuel with a hose calculated on pressure not less than 3 kgfs/cm2. The tip of a hose has to have a design like "banjo", i.e. be condensed with a bolt with the internal through channel (Toyota 09268-45012 special tool).

In the absence of the special manometer it is possible to arrive as follows.

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Get the ready "banjo" union, with an internal diameter of 12 mm which the hose with a collar from your manometer approaches.
2. In the absence of the ready union of suitable diameter get a bolt with a carving of M12 x 1,25 mm, grind off a head of a bolt and drill two openings – one through on the center of a bolt, and another – on the center across a bolt, crossed with a longitudinal opening. Screw a nut and a lock-nut, having condensed a carving with a teflon tape.
3. Turn off a stopper of a jellied mouth of a tank that provides dumping of residual pressure in a tank.
4. Be convinced that tension on the battery is not lower than 12 V (see subsection 3.3.10).
5. Execute actions for a decompression of fuel system (see subsection 5.2).
6. Pressure of fuel can be checked in two places. In the presence of a special adapter (special tool 09268-45012) which is mounted on the fuel distributor, turn off a bolt on the distributor and screw a manometer adapter (drawing at the left). If you independently made an adapter in the form of the drilled bolt with a lock-nut, turn off a cover of the fuel filter and instead of a bolt of a cover wrap the self-made union of the manometer (a photo on the right).
7. Connect the manometer in the following order. In the presence the "regular" manometer connect it to the special adapter established on the fuel distributor. Surely establish new laying on both parties of an adapter. If there is independently made adapter in the form of a bolt of M12 x 1,25, screw a bolt in the fuel filter, tighten a lock-nut and attach a manometer hose with a collar.
8. Put the lever of the selector of automatic transmission in the situation Park, or the gear shifting lever in neutral situation (if the car is equipped with a manual transmission).
9. On all cars released in 1993-1994 and also on cars with the engine 1,3 and 1,6 of the l which are let out since 1995, connect nakorotko conclusions of B+ and FP on the diagnostic socket by means of a special crossing point (SST).

Prevention

On release cars since 1995 with the engine of 1,8 l, and also on all cars equipped with onboard system of self-diagnostics of OBD II, giving of food on the fuel pump via the diagnostic socket is not provided. On these cars for reading of pressure of fuel it is necessary to start the engine.

10. Include ignition (not to start the engine). Consider the indication.
11. If pressure increased, check the return fuel pipe. If gasoline passes through a fuel pipe, replace the fuel pressure regulator; if pressure lowered, press the return fuel pipe.
12. If pressure increases, replace the fuel pressure regulator. If pressure does not increase, check the highway of supply of fuel, the fuel pump and the fuel filter.
13. Remove a crossing point from the diagnostic socket, or from the socket of the fuel pump.
14. Start the engine.
15. Check fuel pressure idling, compare result to the standard.
16. If pressure differs from standard, check a vacuum hose and the regulator of pressure of fuel.
17. Stop the engine and be convinced that pressure of fuel remains at the level of 1,35 kgfs/cm2 within 5 minutes after a stop. If pressure falls down quicker, can be the cause leak in the fuel pump, the regulator of pressure or in a nozzle.

Check of the regulator of pressure of fuel

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. Disconnect and muffle a vacuum hose of the regulator of pressure of fuel. Connect to the regulator the manual vacuum pump. Start the engine and consider the indication of pressure of fuel without depression on the regulator. Create depression in the regulator and again consider fuel pressure. With growth of depression on the regulator pressure of fuel has to decrease. Compare indications of pressure of fuel with specified in in subsection 5.1.
2. Attach a vacuum hose to the regulator and check fuel pressure idling. Compare indications of pressure of fuel with specified in subsection 5.1. Disconnect a hose and again consider pressure as soon as the hose is disconnected, pressure has to increase jump to the top standard limit.
3. If fuel pressure idling at the disconnected hose too high, measure by the vacuum gage depression size on a vacuum hose. If the vacuum gage shows nothing, check tightness of the soaking-up collector and mixing chamber (cover) of a collector.
4. If the fuel pressure lowered, reliably press the return fuel pipe and consider indications of pressure of fuel. If pressure does not increase, the fuel pump is faulty, or the highway of supply of fuel is littered. If pressure sharply increased, replace the regulator of pressure of fuel (see subsection 5.12).
5. If fuel pressure too high, execute actions for a decompression of system (see subsection 5.2), disconnect the return fuel pipe and blow it. If the return fuel pipe is not littered, replace the regulator of pressure.
6. If the behavior of pressure differs from described in item 2, replace the regulator of pressure (see subsection 5.12).
7. Carefully remove the manometer, previously having spread rags under the investigated connection.
8. Wrap the fuel distributor union, previously having replaced laying.
9. Wipe the spilled gasoline.
10. Start the engine and check existence of a leak of gasoline.

Check of the main relay of system

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. The electric chain of fuel system switched on two relays. At first check existence of tension from the battery on the main relay, and then for the relay of the fuel pump.
2. Disconnect the main relay from the socket, then include ignition (the engine do not start) and check existence of tension from the battery.
3. If tension from the battery is, put the main relay on a place and check existence of tension from the battery for the relay of the fuel pump. For access to the relay it is required to remove the receiver (see subsection 12.11).
4. If tension from the battery is present on both relays, check relays.

Check of the main relay (Nippondenso type)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. An ohmmeter check integrity of a chain between contacts 1 and 2. Between contacts 3 and the 5th ohmmeter has to show a gap.
2. On conclusions 1 and 2 give tension from the battery. Now between conclusions 3 and 5 there has to be a closed chain. If results of tests differ, replace the relay.

Check of the main relay (Bosch type)

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. An ohmmeter check integrity of a chain between contacts 86 and 85. Between contacts 87 and the 30th ohmmeter has to show a gap.
2. On conclusions 86 and 85 give tension from the battery. Now between conclusions 87 and 30 there has to be a closed chain. If results of tests differ, replace the relay.

Check of the fuel pump

PERFORMANCE ORDER
1. An ohmmeter check integrity of a chain between contacts of ST and E1. Check integrity of a chain between conclusions + B and FC. Between contacts + the ohmmeter has to show to B and FP a gap.
2. On conclusions of ST and E1 give tension from the battery. Now between conclusions + B and FP has to be the closed chain. If results of tests differ, replace the relay.
