The system is intended for start-up of the engine due to rotation of a cranked shaft with a necessary speed.

The system consists of the battery, a starter, the traction relay and connecting wires. The traction relay is mounted directly on a starter.

The starter assembled with the traction relay is mounted in the top part of the engine, near a case of transmission (check point).

At turn of the ignition key in the situation Start works the traction relay on which tension through an auxiliary chain of start-up moves. The traction relay connects a starter to the battery. The battery supplies a starter with the electric power and the starter rotates a cranked shaft, making mechanical work on start of the engine.

On the cars equipped with a manual transmission, the starter can join only at the pressed coupling pedal. On cars with automatic transmission the starter can join only in that case when the lever of the selector is in the situation Park or Neutral.


At repair of units of system of start of the engine observe the following precautionary measures:
      – inclusion of a starter is allowed for the period of no more than 15 seconds with the subsequent pause not less than 2 minutes (otherwise there is an overheat of a starter and its exit out of operation);
      – as the starter is directly connected to the battery, at inept actions, overloads or casual short circuits formation of an arch and emergence of the fire is possible;
      – before repair of units of system of start of the engine always disconnect the battery from weight.
