GENERAL INFORMATION

Brake pedal height

Height of a pedal of a brake is a distance between a pedal and a floor when the pedal of a brake is released.

1. Pusher

2. Switch of headlights of a stoplight

3. Brake pedal height

Free wheeling of a pedal of a brake

The free wheeling of a pedal of a brake is a distance between the provision of the released pedal and situation when pedal resistance starts being felt when pressing it.

The free wheeling of a pedal of a brake is equal 1–6 mm.

Check and adjustment

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Pedal height
1. Measure pedal height from a surface of a rubber overlay of a pedal to the floor panel (see rice. Brake pedal height) also compare the received value to value in the table (see the tab. Specifications). If height of a pedal does not correspond demanded, adjust it.
2. Remove the lower panel of finishing of a steering column and the air duct.
3. Disconnect the connection socket from the switch of headlights of a stoplight.
4. Turn off a lock-nut of the switch of headlights of a stoplight and remove the switch.
5. Turn off a pusher lock-nut.
6. Adjust pedal height, rotating a pedal pusher.
7. Tighten a pusher lock-nut.
8. Install into place the switch of headlights of a stoplight and twirl it so that it concerned the pedal lever.
9. Twirl the switch one turn deeper.
10. Measure distance (a gap And) between the switch of headlights of a stoplight and a pedal and compare the received value to the value specified in the section of technical characteristics at the beginning of this chapter. If the gap differs from demanded, repeat two previous steps, and again check gap size.
11. Twirl a lock-nut of the switch of headlights of a stoplight.
12. Connect the socket of connection of the switch of headlights of a stoplight.
13. Check that headlights of a stoplight lit up when pressing a brake pedal, and died away if to release a pedal.
14. Check a free wheeling of a pedal.
Free wheeling of a pedal
15. Kill the engine if it works, and squeeze out a brake pedal several times to remove vacuum from the vacuum amplifier.
16. Press on a brake pedal a hand, will not feel resistance yet, then measure distance between situation when the pedal is released also by situation when pedal resistance (see rice begins being felt. Free wheeling of a pedal of a brake). Compare the received value to value for a free wheeling of a pedal of a brake (see the tab. Specifications). If a free wheeling of a pedal too big or too small, adjust it as follows:
17. Check a gap of the switch of headlights of a stoplight. If it corresponds to the demanded value, check the mechanism of brake system.
Brake pedal course stock
18. Start the engine, squeeze out a brake pedal several times, then strongly press on it and hold in such situation.
19. The stock of the course of a pedal is measured from a floor to edge of the squeezed-out pedal. Compare the received value to the value specified in the tab. Specifications.

20. If the stock of the course of a pedal is less, than specified in technical characteristics, check adjustment of back brakes and / or a gap between a pusher of the vacuum amplifier and the piston of the main cylinder. If the brake pedal slowly falls, pump over brake system (see subsection 9.12).
